COMMUNITY COOKS

WORKSHOPS

Bringing People Together

To Cook, Eat, and Learn

AFC's flagship program since first opening our doors! Community Cooks participants prepare and eat healthy meals together, learn about nutrition, and engage in group discussions about social change. Participants join preparation, mixing, cooking, and plating stations where they learn culinary skills, explore nutrition and ingredients, and connect with people in their community. When the food’s done, AFC hosts a guided conversation on making change at home and in their community.

Each Meal is an Opportunity

For Wellness & Connection

Since our founding in 2012, AFC has been bringing community members together to cook, break bread, and build social connections while learning about food justice. Our workshops are designed by and for youth, families, and mothers to offer a space to learn cooking techniques, explore new recipes and ingredients, and connect with friends, families, and neighbors. These free workshops are tailored to meet the needs of our community while focusing on wellness and connection. All are welcome!
